TUMC CLERGY - Pastor Marianne Cotter

Pastor Marianne & her life-partner Jim
Marianne Hachten Cotter first experienced God while walking along the shores of Lake Mendota as a youth. She came to know Jesus Christ during a Communion service while studying for the Unitarian Universalist ministry at Boston University School of Theology. She served Unitarian Universalist congregations in Eau Claire, Mukwonago and Kenosha and United Methodist congregations in Denmark, Brookfield and Marshall before coming to Trinity UMC.

Marianne’s life-partner Jim serves Columbus United Methodist Church. Their two sons are Carl (an undergraduate in agriculture and public policy at Iowa State University) and Samuel (an environmental engineer married to Kimberly). Marianne’s passions include helping people grow spiritually, meditation/contemplative prayer, social justice and exploring feminine images of God. She also enjoys going to the gym, cooking locally grown food and singing.
